Optimal Design Research For Farmers’ Dwellings Space In Wan’Xi Countryside

In recent years, the economy in rural areas has maintained a high growth rate, and the living conditions of farmers in rural areas have achieved a great improvement. At the same time, the new rural construction draws more and more attention. As a common dwelling form, "Rural Farmers Residential" has gone through continuous development for thousands of years under the influence of political, economic, cultural and other social conditions in different periods. Different geographical regions have their own characteristics in different historical periods. However, due to social development, the change of the population structure, as well as the improvement of living standards,traditional farmers residential failed to meet people’s needs nowadays. Therefore, it is imperative to design and build a new form of farmers residential to meet people’s living and production needs.This research is on the basis of field survey to these new constructed residences in recent years, the author has went deep into farmhouse of total six villages in three towns in Jinzhai County of Western Anhui, field research has been down on farmers and their houses in these villages. The author also observed the real living condition for these farmers, kept a record with camera and made interview to them, and then made mapping for their house, diagramed the architectural plan and statistic analyzed their construction time, covered area, material, energy utilization and space usage distribution. On the basis of the above research and the relations among their traditional lifestyle, production mode and living space, find out the problems in the space design of their living houses and then give suggestions for improvement. This article embarks from Architecture, is guided by related theory for residential design, and makes analysis and research for their living house and the generated problems during their live and production. Because the farmerresidence is regional, this article only aims at the farmer residences in Western Anhui, to find out problems and solutions for their houses, and gains some theory and method of farmer residence design which is much more suitable and offers reference for farmer residence design in future.
