In this paper, following the general requirements of packaging design,the method of productization of packaging design is discussed. It refers to the methods and ideas of design science, ecology, human body engineering, psychology, sociology and economics, etc. the real case studies are used to interpret people’s negligence and confusion of the present productization of packaging. This thesis reveals that the productization of packaging design is the inevitable developing trend of the future packaging design.Firstly, the research background of the productization of packaging design and the related domestic and foreign present researches are described. It is pointed out that the purpose of the productization of packaging design research is to break through the traditional mode of packaging design, realize green packaging design, and increase the economic effect of packaging.Secondly, this thesis discusses the necessity of productization of packaging design from the individual demand, enterprise demand of competition in the future and social demand. With the improvement of social life and the quickening of pace of life, people urgently hope the pack become a part of the product, and has the dual functions under the trend of contracted packaging design. For manufacturing enterprise,packaging production design can save the production cost, shorten the cycle of the products, and improve the economic benefit. For the sustainable development of society, the productization of packaging design is an effect way of the "new normal" of social development, the construction of "two type society" and the solving of the bottleneck of "Green Packaging".Thirdly, this thesis presents six principles for the designers in order to realize the productization of packaging design, which include economy principle, moderate function principle, humanity principle, reasonable primary and secondary relations principle, interactive experience principle and aesthetic value principle. At the present, the development of the productization of packaging design can focus on the function continuation,education-motivation, and athletic experience.Finally, the practice case “the outdoor self-heating egg concept packaging” is adopted to illustrate the feasibility of the design principle and method for the productization of packaging design.
