The leakage volume loss of the wear-ring of centrifugal pumps is investigated in this paper based on the theoretical analysis, numerical simulation and experimental test. The IS80-65-160 centrifugal pump is simulated and tested. The effects of impeller sealing the gap size and the structure of impeller wear-ring to the leakage volume loss of centrifugal pumps is analyzed. The main works and results are as follows:1. The establishment of the IS80-65-160 centrifugal pump is based on Pro/E and CFX, an then mesh generation by ICEM and the simulations by CFX. The internal flow field analysis and performance prediction of centrifugal pump is based on CFX.2. Analyze the pressure difference on both sides and the flow state of the fluid at the gap by choosing different gap sizes. According to the influence of different gap sizes to the clearance volume loss of centrifugal pumps, we can sum up the reasonable selection of radial clearance size range to let the leakage volume loss is reduced as far as possible.3. There is a certain quantitative relationship between the radial gap and the gap length, the two factors influence the impeller sealing ring clearance leakage. So we choose different gap length to research how the gap length influence the performance of centrifugal pump.4. In order to get a better sealing effects, we choose five different sealing structure of the ladder types to test, and then compared with the traditional model of pump.5. For purpose of checking the reliability of CFX simulation, a pump performance test about model pump was carried out. The comparison shows that both of head and efficiency can be predicted based on CFX simulation with acceptable accuracy.
