| With product design from production-oriented to user-oriented, integrated ceiling with its flexible combinations and various styles subverts the traditional ceiling decoration and meets users’ individual requirements. During its application extending from the kitchen space to living space, style-design and factory-refurbished become important to company. However, style-design of new products often follows the strategies of kitchen space, focusing on color or surface decoration pattern of module, and weaks the innovation of module form. It results in superfluous modules, also not guarantee the style match.Based on the theory of cognitive psychology, combined with eye-movement experiment, this study explore the relationship between module form and ceiling style in terms of the module form of integrated ceiling products.The main work as follows:(1) Getting the kinds of mainstream decoration style through expert users’ questionnaires and focus groups. Taking the New Chinese style for example, this study creates the New Chinese style ceiling characteristic dimension.(2) Getting eye-movement data and behavioral data of ordinary users in visual scan and visual search though eye-movement experiment. By mathematical statistical analysis, it access to ordinary users’ eye-movement strategies in two stages, the type and the strength of style feature elements. On this basis, it obtains eye-movement types to judge style feature elements.(3) Completing design practice and user subjective and objective assessment. It’s a high consistency between assessment results and preliminary conclusions.This study has shown that there are many style feature elements corresponding with decoration style, and the strength of the style feature elements is different. Conclusions and method of this study can assist designers in completing style-design of integrated ceiling. Designers can quickly capture the style feature elements in style characteristic dimension, improve design efficiency and accuracy. It will establish a good match between designer and user, user’s cognitive style and ceiling style, integrated ceiling style and room decoration style. Furthermore, it provides a viable development model for integrated ceiling product design. |
