| The industrial revolution has changed city development, the landscape all around the world, as well as residents’ life. However,within the development of society, the extensive industry has been substituted by the emerging industry, which indicates the advent of the post-industrial age. Universally, a lot of industrial architecture remains are not saved completely during the progress of city development, which results in more destruction to buildings and public facilities, even leads to massive loss of valuable historical treasures. Changchun,as one of the oldest industrial districts in the northeast of China, there were a large number of industrial buildings constructed in the early years of the found of the republic of China,which not only stimulated the rapid expansion for city, but also made huge contributions to the revival of the whole country. Actually, the ‘Changchun Locomotive Works’- a repair factory for steam locomotive was built at that time, generating tremendous contributions for the railway transport industry. Consequently, how to protect public wealth in the new century is not merely to respect the historical development of industry, but also to help city development progress.Within the request for new country and urban development,and the policy of the old industries-“move to new districtsâ€, how to overcome Changchun locomotive factory buildings has been treated as a worthy-considerable question. Besides, even though the old industrial buildings have not reached to the height of the special protection for heritage buildings,the history of the development has represented the development status in a historical period,as well as delivered a generation for residents’ life and the rise for country industry,which is significantly valuable. Therefore,the protection and the reuse on the planning of these remains of Changchun locomotive factory is seriously considered.This paper aims at investigating the importance on historical development and the design conception of the Changchun locomotive factory by analyzing and comparing current situation of those factory remains. Through the analysis of those important architectures and landscape environment, as well as the combination in city development and regional characteristics, this paper will discuss its protection mode and the re-utilization methods, which aims at retaining its maximum usability and values. Moreover, it helps to keep city heritage and at the same time,it can leave more worthy preserving cultural value to residents. As considered, this thesis analyzes and studies on industrial architectural heritage of Changchun locomotive works, and it is mainly categorized from four aspects:The first part mainly elaborated the article research target,the scope, the research background and significance, as well as related research at domestic and foreign.The second part analyses the current situation of the development of modern industry and the old Changchun industry. By learning related strategies, policies and specific protect cases, we can summarize experience to provide a good theoretical basis for the development of the old industrial architecture of Changchun.The third part studies the development of history and the design process of Changchun locomotive works and also analysis its location in the city. Through the comparison of the current situation, evaluating the important meaning and value, the paper provides a historical basis for the better protect strategy.According to the above analysis, the fourth part put forward the suitable method for Changchun locomotive works remains protection and its reuse. And a set of protect scheme was made which included the industrial architectural heritage in the future planning of the area to achieve the most protect effect and the maximum usable value.Through the research, the author aims to provide reference for the future transformation and utilization of Changchun old industrial, and to provide basis for the future development of Changchun locomotive factory site. |
