Traditional Chinese gardens have a long history, which are unique in the world. Since the pre-Qin era, through various dynasties until the late Qing Dynasty, the traditional ideas and methods of traditional Chinese gardens have been growing and achievements peaked, whice have became the object of Western countries to followed suit. As one of the most important elements and the center of landscaping, the pond is not only a function symbols, but the carrier of several thousand unique cultural spirits. The diverse and rich of patterns of pond, are the key to shape the traditional Chinese gardens’ space experience. Understanding the patterns of pond is very important to inherit the essence of traditional Chinese culture and to improve the design quality of water features in modern gardens. However, with the rapid growing of the construction of China’s urbanization in recent years, the traditional Chinese gardens and the ponds in them have revealed two main problems:the first one is that "superficial tradition", a variety of traditional symbols transplanted abuse, the works have shape but no essence; another problem is copying the design techniques and symbols of foreign blindly, abandoning the local natural forms. All of these are the misconceptions of the essence of classical paradigm in our tradition and the performance of the lack of confidence in the nation’s outstanding cultural. In order to expand the pond research train of thought, and fill the gap of using topology method to study the Chinese traditional garden ponds, this topic will take the outstanding ponds in the traditional Chinese gardens as the research object. On the basis of the traditional manage water thought and topology theory, the topic will use topological deformation method to simplify the irregular form of landscape water. From two aspects of spatial pattern and bridging form, it will use the intuitive geometric graphic method and topological method to sum up and refine the inner model structures of the logics behind the complex space form. At last, by discussing the relationship between the structures and spatial experiencehas from the aspects of visual perception, the complexity laws that to improve the diversity and interestingness of the space experience of water body have been found, as well as the distribution characteristics of the water body in the region and scale. The thesis mainly consists of five parts. The first part is the introduction part. Mainly through the introduction of the background and content of the research and the related research status, defining its theoretical and practical significance. The second part focuses on the introduction of the concepts of topology and visual perception and some other elaborate theories. The third part is the core part of this article, Contains chapters 3 and 4. Respectively through the deformation of the spatial patterns of traditional garden pond and the forms of bridge, their topology model will be summarized. on the results the results of the study will be discussed and analyzed from the aspects of visual perception psychological experience, and the regional distribution characteristics of water space is discussed, too. The fourth part will deeply discussed the forms of pond space topology complexity shape which play a key role in the water space diversity and interesting shape, summing up out of the water body space form the complexity of composition method, drawing the corresponding abstract patterns and representational plane recommended case maps according to the selected cases, so as to provide new ideas for the contemporary landscape water body design. The last part is the conclusion and prospect. The content includes the summary of the advantages and disadvantages in the research conclusion and methods, and the future research prospects.
