Small Town Spatial Network Research Based On Space Syntax

Small town is the transitional existence between traditional countryside and modern city. With the progress of new urbanization, spatial network shape universally gains big development and improvements. The thing we cannot ignore is, because of lacking scientific and reasonable spatial network planning guidance, some small towns are unable to grasp the development status quo of spatial network and find the spatial network growth direction, thus falling into a development dilemma of no definite development direction, unreasonable function layout, and mass-demolishing mass-construction and blindly expanding.With the help of parametric study platform of Depthmap and SPSS, this essay discusses the difference characteristics of Chaoyang Town’s spatial network integration growth center change and division development through comparative research on parameter variation of Integration, Intelligibility, Integrator in space syntax axial structure change process in 2000 and 2010. This essay proposes corresponding strategic advices on the integration and optimizing of Chaoyang town’s spatial network. This essay hopes to expand space syntax theory’s application in China’s small town planning area, provides new planning thoughts and analysis platform for the building of China’s small town spatial network, thus pushing the scientific and reasonable development of new urbanization process.This essay divides into six chapters, Chapter One is introduction, demonstrating research background, content, objective and meaning; Chapter Two makes an introduction on theory foundation and research situation of space syntax and small town spatial network shape; Chapter Three constructs comparative analysis methods on small town spatial network shape research on the basis of theory research; Chapter Four is the core chapter of this essay, it determines Jilin Chaoyang as the research sample, and applies the constructed analysis method to make comparative analysis on the syntax parameter variation of the whole and the divisions in Chaoyang town’s spatial network in 2000 and 2010, deeply analyzes the growth center change characteristics and synergic relationship of the whole and the divisions; Chapter Five proposes integrated and optimized development strategies on Chaoyang town’s spatial network on the basis of empirical analysis of Chaoyang town’s spatial network shape change; Chapter Six is conclusion, including the limits of the assay and research prospect.
