The study focuses its attention on the issue of intercourse space among urban community residents in information age. With the rapid development of the information process in China, the life style, residential patterns and communicative media of urban residents have been have been greatly changed and development. As the extensive use of Internet among the community intercourse, the communication methods and space requirements of community residents in the information age have changed a lot. The changes lead to a lack of basic contacts and interaction between community residents, the indifferent relationship between people has been increased. The lack of security and sense of belonging in community also brings a series of social problems. The study use of the theories in different research disciplines like building science, urban planning, sociology and environmental science and so on. From the view of human communicative action and space requirements, the study focus on the community intercourse space in information age.The study is composed by five chapters: the first chapter describes the background, purpose, meaning of the study, and also explains the related concepts and the basic idea of the study. The second chapter includes by some preparations for the work, learning information, multimedia, internet technology and their interactions, studying the theories of community communicative action and space. The study is devoted to explore the reasons for the occurrence of intercourse and the factors which caused the intercourse space changed. Both of the work on this paper can be a formadation for further research. In the third chapter, by laying to hierarchy of community communication space, and then analysing the different behavioral characteristics and space demands of residents, the study tries to explore the community’s intercourse space in information age. The forth chapter compared modern communities with the traditional ones, analysed the transform of the physical space, intergalactic space and virtual space in the community space to explore the community intercourse space of the information age. The fifth chapter, based on the theories, practice and the needs of residential dailylife in community, the study proposed some strategies for intercourse space designing, which trying to promoting residents interactions.
