The urban constructions in China have come to an era of unprecedentedprosperity thanks to the large-scale urbanization ever since1990s. However, theconstruction of interior public intercourse space of the city is far from flawless due tothe absence of attention and theoretic guide. In fact, not a few constructions are moreformalistic than practical with less focus on their social functions. In order to gear tothe international conventions, many cities strive to build larger, more modern andinternational public structures than necessary. As a result, the construction ofintercourse space in interior public has been reduced to a mere method of varnishingthe city by the local government, which violates its principle abouthuman-centeredness.This paper focuses on the above-mentioned issue concerning the construction ofintercourse space in interior public of the city, aiming to summarize and examine theexisting problems within this field, and seeks a rational, systematic and complete wayof designing the intercourse space in interior public. Moreover, the thesis attempts toaddress the deficiencies within the construction, building a sense of belonging amongpeople and encouraging them to participate in the city life in a positive andenthusiastic attitude, thus enhancing interactions among them.
