Bashu region has thousands of years of cultural history, traditional Bashu region buildings have been a long-term development formed its own unique regional architecture. As an important part of Bashu region, traditional building technology is also a remarkable achievement, to add luster to the building Bashu region.With the birth and development of the early 20th century modernist architecture,there had formed a wide spread of "international style", it’s pursuit is functional, economical and simple, due to the development of economic globalization, modern buildings meet the people of Long Span space requirements, so with the traditional architecture of the opposition is correspondingly produced. Since the last century, modernist architecture buildings clustered, the face of strong impact of foreign culture,the topic,should we inherit the tradition or not and how to inherit, is increasingly relevant professionals concerned,about inheriting traditional culture and the use of traditional elements of contemporary architecture came into being. Writing original intention of this paper is that in traditional cultures face enormous challenges and new opportunities for development, we in the western area of architectural creation for how to use traditional elements in architectural creation to achieve inherit and carry forward the traditional architecture culture.Through knowledge of traditional architecture, especially the traditional vernacular architecture research and documentation of traditional western area, the resident of the development, contextual factors (geographical and climatic conditions and cultural environment, etc.) and traditional architectural features of houses (traditional houses of surface and deep structure) is summarized to provide the historical basis for the study of modern regional architecture creation. At the same time, I tried to start from the western area of architectural creation in the application of traditional elements of the status quo, summed up several western area of the status quo architect using traditional elements:1) Since the process of globalization, most modern buildings of the Convergence, geographical and cultural characteristics of loss of the status quo; 2) the use of traditional elements in new buildings reflect the regional characteristics of the phenomenon; 3) the status of the building renovation and expansion of the use of traditional elements, all types of building were with three to four representative examples to specific studies both from architectural surface structure and deep structure to reflect the status of the western area architectural creation. Combining the elements of traditional houses in western Sichuan analyzed and summarized the western area of architectural creation techniques using traditional elements, principles and strategies from the status quo.In this paper, the use of traditional elements of the building from the western area that is modern architecture and antique building two buildings in the "hard tradition" and "soft tradition" aspects of the analysis are summarized summarized on how to use these two categories of traditional elements for building in traditional architecture not elaborate too much on detail, research in this area is different from other articles. Whether it is the creation of modern architecture or the use of analysis of the traditional antique architectural elements, not only to reflect the regional express to inherit and carry forward the traditional culture of western Sichuan, but also to meet people’s growing material and spiritual needs reflected by the innovation and the times.
