With the rapid development of modern industry in the world, the demands on industrial automation control level of each country are higher and higher. The djusting mechanism of air volume is an indispensable end fitting on the central air onditioning of ventilation of industrial factories or civil buildings, and also the engineering of the conditioning or purification on air. It applied usually to the air conditioning and the piping of ventilation system for adjusting the air volume in the branch piping. Becides that, it can be used for the blended adjusting between fresh air and return air to, which can protect environment and save energy. In this paper, the technology of CAD/CAE is adopted mainly to configurate virtually for the adjustment of air volume, and the vane of the adjusting mechanism is analyzed by FEM(Finite Element Method) and optimized in the research process. In this paper, After the analysis of the background about the adjusting echanism of air volume and the research status, establishing a virtual prototype for the adjusting mechanism of air volume by Pro/E 5.0 of CAD. Then according to the mechanism motion simulation option of Pro/E5.0, the motion simulation for virtual prototype can be proceed. At last, analyzing and optimizing the vane which is the main part of the adjusting mechanism by FEM based on the ANSYS of CAE software. Through verifying, the result of the rationalization of the design on vane can be proved. Because of the analysis on the mechanism is not greatly comprehensive during the process of research, the design on the parts parameterized and equipment parameterized should be strengthened, at the same time, the other parts should be analyzed and optimized by ANSYS software.
