The Protection And Renewal Reseach Of Cultural Space Of Historic Towns In Chengdu

Historic towns of Chengdu have long history, they are precious historical and cultural heritage resources of China. However, the cultural environment of Chengdu historic towns being strongly impacted by the rapid urbanization and cultural globalization, their landscape gradually becomes monotonous, their unique regional cultural features are disappearing, also lead people lose their spirit sustenance. Therefore, it is an imperative and current urgent task for us to protect the cultural space of Chengdu historic towns effectively. In addition, the cultural spaces of historical towns of Chengdu formed and developed in the unique natural geographical environment and local cultural environment of Chengdu region, they have their own typical characteristics which can not be replicable, therefore they also have high research value.The paper takes the cultural space of historic towns of Chengdu as study object, starts with the perspective of local culture, learns the advanced experience of historical and cultural heritage protection, combines with the unique realities of Chengdu region, through great deal of literature collection and field surveys, uses the knowledge of planning, architecture, geography, sociology and anthropology comprehensively, sums up the strategies and measures of protection and renewal which suitable for historic towns of Chengdu, and demonstrates them by example.The paper firstly cards the present situation and structural characters of the cultural space of historic towns of Chengdu, analyzes the factors influenced their survival and development which includes natural, social, economic, and cultural context, elaborates the meaning and historical process of protection,and summarizes the currently contradictions and crisis. Subsequently, takes further analysis from four aspects of urban form, street space, node space, residential courtyard space, summarizes their form, function and real contact with people’s lives, and targeted points out the specific issues. Finally, proposes strategies and measures of protection and renewal based on the above findings, the strategies includes taking the method of dynamic protection and organic update, grasping important entry point of protection, adhering to the scientific planning and design for the pilot, establishing coordination mechanisms in which all sectors of society participate, and extending funds sources of protection, the measures mainly elaborated from the four points of protecting overall pattern and shape of towns, continuing the historic street space, constructing the network of the cultural space node, and protecting the form of traditional architecture, then demonstrates these measures through case studies. It is a complex and long-term work that protecting and renewing historical and cultural heritage, only the whole society attache great importance to and actively involved in, can the sustainable development of historic towns be guaranteed effectively.
