Research On The Planning And Design Of Greenway Slow Mode Transportation System From Humanity Dimension

One important factor in determining the viability of urban development is human being, and whether urban development is dynamic, is one of the important indicators to judge the quality of the city’s quality of life. Whether basic physiological needs of the residents of the city can be assured, whether the travel environment of public is safe and beautiful, whether people’s spiritual world can be able to be met, are the problems for urban designers to take into consideration and resolve.With the development of economy and the expansion of the scale of the city, the demand for motorized transportation is increasing, being more and more frequency to be used. And the unlimited growth, in turn, prompt the construction of urban municipal facilities, follow by urban congestion problems and increasingly serious environmental problems. When many urban problems need to be solved, the 18th national congress of the CPC also proposed to set that building ecological civilization in a prominent position. With the improvement of the overall quality of people, with the meet of the basic physiological needs, people began to pursue a higher level of life, slow mode transportation ideas began to attract attentions, slow mode transportation system was increasingly important in the transportation planning, it will cause a significant reform in the way people travel and even the lifestyle. Although domestic theory and practice research about the slow mode transportation system have made some progress, most of them tend to put more of an emphasis on transportation knowledge, focusing on the achieving of traffic functions, lacking of the research of greenways in slow mode transportation system. Therefore, the traditional method for planning and designing slow mode transportation system has not fully adapted to the pursuing for better travel qualities of people in the new era.In these days and ages, what people require for travel is not only reaching the destination, but also include leisure, recreation, entertainment and fitness. This paper attempts to depart from the perspective of human dimension, make recommendations for the planning and design of greenway slow mode transportation in order to make our slow mode transportation environment better to meet the needs of people, to attract people to get out and participate in slow mode transportation.This paper analyzed slow walkers, slow behavior and slow area of the greenway slow mode transportation system in human dimension, designed the slow area and the various elements of the greenway slow mode transportation system in detail. According to the concept of human dimension raised by Jan Gehl in the book Cities for People, combine with the theory Hierarchy of needs by Abraham H. Maslow, I conclude the three hierarchy in the requirements of greenway slow mode transportation system:transportation requirement, communication requirement and leisure sport requirement. Then I analyzed with people’s perception of the features and characteristics of psychological behavior, analyzed the relations between the slow area of the greenway slow mode transportation system and the motor vehicle lanes, architectural space and design methods of landscape elements in the slow area. And I proposed design recommendations that meet human dimension. I researched from the basic human needs, as well as psychological behavioral characteristics and perceptual characteristics, which was to study the greenway slow mode transportation system from the root of the problem.
