Since the mid-20 th century, the industrial revolution marked by information technology spread to all over the world. All walks of life were affected by the information technology revolution, proceeding with the industrial transformation and structure upgrade smoothly. As people more and more aware of the importance of information technology revolution, social informatization based on the information technology reform also deepens quickly. As the basic industry of the national economic development, transportation informationization development is imperative. The research and development of electronic maps, mobile phone softwares, "bus" waiting public account and so on, are the embodiment of the traffic informatizaton. They are exerting subtle influence on the residents’ travel concepts, changing the travel behaviors of residents.Based on the analysis of existing related researches, this paper profoundly explains the concepts of transportation informatization and residents’ travel behavior change, analyzes the frame system of transportation informatization, and determines the concept of social informatization when discussing the relationship between them. Set up path hypothesis model of how transportation informatization affects urban residents’ travel behaviors and verify it empirically based on the “transportation informatization and public travel” behavior survey in Tianjin(558). Using data analysis software such as SPSS, AMOS, process these recovering data by structural equation model analysis methods(descriptive statistics, reliability and validity analysis, path analysis, and the mediation effect of inspection).According to data analysis results, this paper analyses the inner relationship and influence path between transportation informatization and residents’ travel behaviors, adjusts research hypothesis model, and ultimately determines the most optimal and realistic research model. The results show that transportation informatization not only has a directly marked impact on travel behaviors of urban residents; information literacy and information resources play role of mediating effect between the transportation informatization and residents’ travel behavior change.Innovation points of this paper are: ① From the internal impact process perspective, a different and brand-new way, explain the relationship between the transportation informatizati on and the urban residents’ travel behaviors, finding transportation informatization can affect residents’ travel behaviors through social informatization. ② According to related research, divide the transportation informatization into three contents. They are hardware infrastructure, applied system and management auxiliary activities. ③ Through the analysis of previous research, that social informatization containing two main research contents(information literacy and information resources) is proved rational. ④ The results of the study show that improve residents’ information literacy and strengthen the construction of information resources is key step for government to construct wisdom city and intelligent transportation. The governments not only should pay attention to the variety of hardware and software construction, to improve residents’ information literacy and rich information resources also play a significant role in the development process. At the same time, management auxiliary activities are the main measure to ensure the development of transportation informatization.
