Study On Development Tendency Of Bulk Carrier Upsizing And Influence To Shipping Enterprise

With the development of global economy, trading and shipping demand, the vessels will be bigger and specialized which is clear. Especially in recent years, with China’s rapid economic development, the demand for steel is larger and larger, and the import volume is increasing, also for other countries of Asia, Africa and Latin America.so the bulk carries development rapidly. Now it influence the shipping market and shipping companies for the operating of Valemax. So it is important to study the influences of Large-scale Vesselon shipping companies.Basis on Enterprise Management Theoryand Econometric Theory, the paper applies the methods of combining qualitative analysis with quantitative research, and macroscopic analysis and microscopic research. Considering characters of bulk carriers, the reasons of upsizing of bulker carriers,the paper uses statistical analysis, unit root test, co-integration test, Granger test and Vector Error Correct model to investigate the relationship between bulk trading and average tonnage of bulk carriers. The cost-benefit analysis method is applied to analyze the influences of Large-scale Vesselon shipping companies on route C3 and C5.The results show that the series of bulk trading and carriers are non-stationary time series, and there are co-integration relationship and unidirectional causation. Changes of bulk carriers’ average tonnage lag behind the bulk trading. On the same route, with the development of ship tonnage, unit oil costs decrease, yet profit increase. There are some challenges for ship upsizing, such as boost cargo pressure, increasing wait-time in port and so on. Some advises are put forward, such as upgrading the competitiveness of enterprises, adjusting structure of fleet, using shipping derivatives avoid market risks. The purpose is to guide the development and operation forshipping companies.
