According to statistics, the main reason for the accident of ship collision in port area is the lack of grasp ship maneuverability. When sailing at sea, ship officers should handle the ship effectively at any time, which constrains them to understand the comprehensive effects of the ship maneuverability and the external environment on ship handling. Ship maneuverability has been a hot topic in the study of the international navigation society. In 2002, the IMO (International Maritime Organization issued the standard of the ship maneuverability, raised the research upsurge of the ship maneuverability. Ship’turning ability is one of the main indexes of ship maneuverability.With the continuous development of computer, Computational Fluid Dynamic is constantly applied in ship hydrodynamics, which provides a more accurate and more economic method to the study on ship maneuverability.Based on the CFD method modeled the ship turning handling at sea based on by solving the equation numeric of RANS (Reynolds Averaged Navier-stokes).Then, SST k-ω model selected as turbulence model. The method of wall function used for wall treatment. The method of single LEVEL SET used to handle the free liquid level. Used FVM (Finite Volume Method) to disperse the RANS equation, where the disperse format of space and time are both second-order precision. Selected PISO (Pressure Implicit Split-Operator) arithmetic to adjust the disperse equation and then calculate. Selected overset grid method which can save more calculating resource to divide the grid and realizing 6 degree of freedom motion of hull through solving the equation of the rigid body motion. Through numerical calculation, various attitude data can be obtained during the whole ship turning process.This article establishes ship model in real size through researching the training vessel "Yukun" of Dalian Maritime University. The comparing data references the data of an actual shipping turning test with a 25 degrees rudder angle at sea of the vessel "Yukun".Through comparing the result of numerical modeling with the data of actual test, can get the result based on CFD was high accuracy. In addition to Lk error is 17.44%, all the other data errors are about 10%. The research results show that, the research method of this paper based on CFD can achieve the success of numerical calculation of ship turning, and plays a certain reference value in further study of based on the CFD method in the field of ship maneuverability. |
