With the rapid development of national economy, the number of vehicles continues to increase. Energy consumption, urban traffic congestion, and traffic safety problems has become a bottleneck for the sustainable development of transportation industry. Urban traffic intellectualization, informatization and integration became the most key of solving the urban traffic congestion. However, the traditional traffic signal control system is mainly through the static embedded sensors or through infrared cameras and other means for the traffic flow statistics and prediction. This not only caused a serious waste of resources, at the same time, the measure of the traffic flow is difficult to accurately, solution is to use historical data or based on sensor. The emergence of VANET brings hope to thoroughly solve the urban traffic congestion. VANET is based on the inter vehicle networking, international vehicle networking and vehicle-mounted mobile netwroking. Through wireless communication, VANET can provide intelligent traffic management, vehicle safety control and the information services. However, due to the development of the VANET at the preliminary stage, for large-scale city traffic flow control evacuation research is less. Therefore, we put forward the adaptive traffic signal control based on path priority in VANET. The method first design V2I communication system framework, and then to abstract the city road network. The release priority of each section is calculated based on the PageRank model. For a single intersection point of control, the vehicle traffic volume is optimized by the Maximum Clique Problem theory. The method ensure the high priority of traffic flow by priority, also ensure the release of the number of cars is the largest. In this paper, the experiment is divided into two ways. One way is conducted on VISSIM simulation platform,to test the effect of the adaptive control strategy for vehicle scheduling. Another way is conducted in the real environment, mainly to test the system function. Results show that the proposed adaptive control method based on path priority, compared to the traditional adaptive control method for control effect is better. At the same time, in the real environment the system can efficiently complete the intersection vehicle scheduling.
