To realize the measurement and control between the equipments in the spacecraft, many cables are used. the cables in which the data are transmited are very complicated, and the a lot of communication cables not only increase the weight of the spacecraft of which the payload ratio decreases, but also increase the difficult of the assembly work. In addition, some special equipment such as the moving devices need connect with the system in wireless mode.The CAN protocol has high reliability and flexibility, excellent real-time performance and other advantages. CAN bus is a serial communication protocol and a kind of fieldbus protocol. CAN protocol can support multi hosts and the distributed real-time control system which has a very high level of security. CAN protocol is simpler than MIL-STD-1553 B protocol and has been widely used in spacecraft.In the paper, An intra-satellite optical wireless communication system based on LED is proposed, which realized optical wireless communication based on LED instead of traditional cables. The system makes the choice of the devices and reduces the power consumption, considering the feasibility of the application of satellite in orbit as much as possible. The experiment results show that the speed of the system is up to 100 Kbps, when the distance between the two devices is 0.5m and they communicate with each other in diffuse reflection.The following contents are included in this paper:1 The development investigation of the intra-satellite and ground optical wireless communication.2 The scheme instructions of intra-satellite optical wireless communication based on LED. It included the CAN protocol of satellite, the analysis of the optical path and the modulation scheme.3 The design of intra-satellite optical wireless communication system based on LED. It included the design of system, the selection description of the key components of the system and the hardware and software design.4 The system verification of the intra-satellite optical wireless communication system based on LED.5 The conlusion and prospect. It included the summary of the system and the prospect of the further work.
