Since the light steel was introduced from abroad, its domestic development in China has been booming, as part of the light steel, cold-formed steel occupies an important position. Buckling behavior of cold-formed steel portal frame under various loads is the control condition of its design, especially in Southeast Asia, buckling under wind loads is necessary. The object of this paper is the cold-formed steel portal frame, Although it has some theoretical and experimental researches in foreign countries, the research in this regard in China is very little. In particular, the buckling behavior study on cold-formed steel under wind loads is limited. In response to this situation, the ultimate bearing capacity of cold-formed steel’s linear buckling and its nonlinear buckling under wind loads was studied in this paper. This paper used a numerical analysis method, a more in-depth study on the buckling behavior of cold-formed steel portal frame under wind loads and its impact parameter was studied in this paper. The main job of this paper contains:(1) The use of finite element analysis software ANSYS to establish the numerical analysis model of cold-formed steel portal frame and mesh convergence analysis.(2) Give a study on the model with the linear elastic analysis and nonlinear static analysis. Compare the results between the linear elastic analysis and the nonlinear static structure analysis.(3) According to the established the numerical analysis model, analysis some of the factors that affect the stability of the cold-formed steel portal frame. Explore the web height to thickness ratio, flange thickness ratio, high-span ratio, the slope of the inclined beams, beam-column linear stiffness ratio and defect shape and defect size and other factors on the stability of the ultimate bearing capacity, make some meaningful conclusions, in the hope of giving a reference to the engineering design.
