Cold-Formed Thin-Walled Steel Portal Frame Structure as a new type of building structure,is widely applied in Britain, the United States, Germany and other countries. Due to the structurewith advantages of processing optimization, saving steel, Shorting construction period,facilitating installation, low costing, getting the favor of domestic engineers. For the theoreticalstudy of the structure is inadequate, and the domestic current research is still insufficient forengineering practice. Therefore, the structural system is rare in the country.In order to promotethe development and application of cold-formed thin-walled steel portal frame structure system.Based on the summary of the existing research results, using the finite element software ANSYSto do a systematic research of the mechanical properties of cold-formed thin-walled steel portalframe structure.In this paper, studying the stiffness of base connection influences on ultimatebearing-capacity of web stiffening and ordinary cold-formed thin-walled steel portal frame, theresults of the analysis shows that the stiffness of the base connection has great impact on theultimate bearing-capacity of cold-formed thin-walled steel portal frame. On the basis of that,studying the slope of the frame, the thickness of the frame beams and columns, steel grade, theform of the frame beams and columns influences on the ultimate bearing capacity of cold-formedthin-walled steel portal frame by univariate analysis method.And nine specimens are designedwith the orthogonal design method, through finite element simulation, respectively, identifyingthe priority of factors affect the ultimate bearing capacity of rigid frame. Nonlinear finite elementmethod is applied to study the stiffness and bearing-capacity of the beam-column joint, resultsshows that increase the thickness of the gusset plate can improve the bearing-capacity and thestiffness of the joint, however, when the gusset plate increases to a certain value, continuing toincrease the gusset plate thickness has little effect on the failure mode and ultimatebearing-capacity of the joint.Through the engineering case, comparing and analyzing the steel consumption of weldedH-section steel portal frame and cold-formed thin-walled steel portal frame at the same designconditions, it shows that, the cold-formed thin-walled steel structure is more economical thanwelded H-section steel structure on the steel consumption, the economic benefits and advantagesof cold-formed thin-walled steel structure is obvious!...
