Internal combustion engine (ICE) has been widely applied to production and life of humans. At the same time of bringing great convenience, it also causes the shortage of resources and serious pollution problems of the environment. It has become an important issue faced by humanity in the twenty-first Century to develop ICE with high efficiency, low emission and low fuel consumption. With the continuous development of computer technology, numerical simulation method of engine working process has become an important means of ICE research and development. Through the numerical simulation we can understand the effect of changes of various ICE working process parameters and conditions to engine performance rapidly and deeply, and provide the reference for the design and manufacturing of ICE.Taking MATLAB as the software platform, on the one hand, this paper sets up the zero- and quasi-dimensional calculation model for spark ignition engine based on 492 gasoline engine, and modifies it to get the model of CNG and LPG engine. On the other hand, the zero-dimensional calculation model for compression ignition engine was established based on 6135 diesel engine, and it was modified into the model of DME engine. The main research contents include,(1) The zero- and quasi-dimensional combustion model for spark ignition engine was built based on 492 gasoline engine. Indicator diagram and main performance parameters was figured out by the model. They were compared with the reference data to verify the correctness of the program. Based on this program, the main performance of CNG engine and LPG engine that come from the gasoline engine was researched, and then it was discussed how to solve the power decline problems of ICE due to changes in fuel. Finally the performance of the ICE from the ignition advance angle, compression ratio and fuel injection quantity has been optimized after fuel was changed.(2) The zero-dimensional combustion model for compression ignition engine was established based on 6135 diesel engine. The software can be used with different kinds of engines and combustion models, and it can also be used when studying the effects of the parameters on engine performance. Finally, each function module of the software has been tested, proving that the software can realize the expected function and ensuring the correctness.
