The fossil fuel resource is reducing and its price is rising increasingly, the heat engine using traditional fuel is facing the unprecedented energy crisis. Research on Stirling engine which can operate on multi-fuels is of momentous significance in facing the shortage of petroleum fuel, reducing the environmental pollution and in the military realm. It's very important for an engineer to choose a reasonable Stirling analysis methods for the design of Stirling engine and performance optimization. This paper attempts to establish mathematical model of Stirling engine thermal cycle based on one-dimensional unsteady compressible gas flow theory. The thermodynamic cycle simulation model of each part of the Stirling engine is established using one-dimensional gas dynamics analysis software GT-Power for the internal-combustion engine performance simulation.Numerical solution of the pressure and the temperature distribution as well as the heater and the cooler heat transfer rate in system during the cyclic process is acquired by iterative calculation; the integral of the pressure and the heat transfer rate in the cyclic process produces engine performance parameters, including indicated work, heat transfered and indicated thermal efficiency. By comparing with experimental data, the calculated results indicate that the method of one-dimensional unsteady compressible gas flow theory is feasible for analyzing the Stirling engine, the results conform to the general rule of the Stirling engine work and are reasonable. Finally, the paper has also analyzed the influence of different thermodynamical parameters to the Stirling engine performance, which provides an effective reference for the Stirling engine design. In addition, the paper also pointes out the aspects of the computation model that need to be improved. The research results of this paper have important reference value to Stirling engine research and design.
