Seismic isolation can be applied to effectively improve seismic resistance performance of bridges. According to the aseismatic principles, the secondary structure should be damaged before the main structure of bridges to protect the main structure from being damaged by offsetting the earthquake energy. On the basis, bridge designs in earthquake-prone area always contain seismic isolation. However, common seismic isolation measures like lead rubber bearing, unseating prevention device, rubber gasket and so on are, more or less, too expensive or difficult to install. Besides, the shear key which is placed on both sides to control the displacement of girder is always ignored, and there are few rules on its structure behavior; while the concrete stoppers which used in our country has little function for its easily breakage. For the above two aspect, designer tried to design a kind of row yield point of steel shear key, which is easy to make, to install, and has well performance in offsetting energy, so that it can be applied to most bridges building. Considering above requirements, we make five types steel stoppers, applying mild steel material and cutting different size of slot on web plate to make them perform well in Deformation energy.The current essay compared the performance parameter of the five types steel stoppers with different sizes of slot under simulated earthquake load test. Following are the test and findings:Theoretically analyzed the force of the five steel stoppers, and conducted numerical simulation to them with ANSYS, in order to provide theoretical data foundation for the load test.Conducted materials--tensile test on the mild steels, and it found that the steel can be used in load test, with the physical parameter such as steel yield strength, tensile strength, modulus of elasticity, and Poisson’s ratio are all desirable for the design.in order to collect load-displacement curve and stress-strain curve for further tests, bottom fixed Single thrust load tests with were conducted to the five types of steel stoppers.Hysteretic loading test was applied to two of the five type steel stoppers to collect Hysteretic loops for the analysis on the energy law of the steel stoppers in different size.Comparing the performance parameters simulated from the data collected in tests with the result of ANSYS numerical simulation analysis, the reliability of tests was testified. The performance parameters and energy law of steel stoppers can be applied to further research.
