Traditional Street Space Renewal

In the context of rapid economic development, the step of urban development and renewal is also more and more quickly. A large number of highly valuable historic blocks have been destroyed in this process. And such phenomenon is spreading from big cities to small towns, among which is our site Fangqiao. But as more people gradually realizing the value of historic streets as city memories, more and more importance are attaching to traditional streets protection. How the traditional block protective renovation has become a very urgent problem, the corresponding research also has the very high practical significance.Traditional block renewal mainly includes four situations:fabric recovery, old building conversion, street space renewal and some renovate works. This thesis focuses on traditional street space renewal, which means focus on the refurbishment of street facade and pavement. This thesis is based on actual project in Fangqiao. The first chapter is about the research on the macro level, which helps to determine the development orientation of Fangqiao old street and the scope of the design. The second chapter is the summary of 8 old street renewal cases. The third chapter is about the main design process. And the last chapter is the design result presentation.The whole thesis contains about 14 500 words,61 pictures and charts.
