China, as an earthquake-prone country, the seismic of the buildings has been the concern of people. Reinforced concrete frame, as a common structure form, its ability to resist earthquake is particularly important. Under the action of earthquake, the column of frame, as an important component of the structure, the capacities of shear bearing and energy dissipation have been many scholars’ research topic in recent years and have received some guiding data and conclusions. But for the moment, the mechanism of energy dissipation about plastic-hinge region in column and the ability of energy dissipation are not very clear, so it needs to be studied further.This article mainly in the view of the mechanism of energy dissipation about I-beam-column of frame, using the structural analysis software ABAQUS to set up finite element model, then research the hysteresis curve of plastic-hinge region under low reversed cyclic load and analysis the ability of energy dissipation under different conditions. In this paper, the following works are taking:1、Analyzing and summarizing the mechanism of energy dissipation about column under earthquake action. Providing certain theoretical basis for finite element analysis.2、Establishing multiple ABAQUS model to analysis the differences about the ability of energy dissipation between columns with different levels of ductility under the same low reversed cyclic load. Getting the hysteresis curve and calculating the equivalent viscosity coefficient, energy dissipation coefficient and stiffness degradation rate, in order to compare the impact of the level of ductility on energy dissipation capacity intuitively. Meanwhile, the software results are compared with experimental results to validate the correctness of structural analysis.3、On the basis of ABAQUS analysis, comparing the differences of calculation about column shear capacity in plastic hinge region between different countries’ concrete seismic code. Taking variance analysis for its design ideas and formulas, and finding out the shortcomings for our current code for design of concrete structures. Then providing recommendations for improvement.
