Population aging is a major social problem prevalent in today’s world, as of March2013, the country’s aging population has reached194million, almost equal to twohundred million mark. According to China’s "9073" pension policy in the future Chinawill have more than14million seniors to implement community endowment.Apartments for the elderly community is to meet this part of the older people of acommunity endowment building type housing needs emerged. Recently the state hasadopted a number of columns in the pension industry related policies to promotecommunity development, social development needs of the community are alsoapartments for the elderly has become increasingly urgent. However, the currentresearch on communities of fewer apartments for the elderly, community awareness forapartments for the elderly in the community is very low, fundamental and technicalresearch community has been behind the apartments for the elderly needs of thecommunity. Therefore, the research community designed apartments for the elderly is avery urgent and has a good sense of social issues.This paper first describes the concepts of population aging and the elderlyapartment community, and then select the method typical number of foreign anddomestic related cases as relevant case studies and research objects, sorting throughdata collection and field reconnaissance survey, the overall function separately from thebuilding constituted, streamline the organization, area indicators, living tissue model, a single set of standards to the residential area, the kit features constitute conduct thefunctional space design requirements, detailed design and operating model nodes andother aspects detailed analysis, summarize their experience in the design and thepresence of the problem, summarized the initial set of suitable apartments for theelderly in community design methods and strategies.
