In recent years, with the rapid development of market economy, market competitionhas intensified, the user demand for automotive products is showing a trend that gets moreand more diversified and personalized, and they are having a high demand of automotiveappearance. Car features and prices are no longer considered as the most important factorby consumers, on the contrary, the content of perceptual aspects is getting more attention.For a long time, designers has relied on their own experience, intuition and inspirationwhile designing a product. Due to the lack of effective support from theory and method, theproduct designed is always difficult to meet the emotional needs of the users accurately andefficiently. Many car manufacturers invest time and capital heavily in the design of theshape, but there are certain problems about the matching of the shape and color. Users havea specific psychological sense about automotive styling, as well as the color. How tocombine users’ feel about car shape and color is the most important subject of the research.That combination is to use Kansei Engineering, CMF, psychology, ergonomics, statisticalanalysis and other disciplines to analyze the styling and color matching relationship ofautomotive, thereby establish a scientific design system, and, starting from the consumer’sphysiological characteristics, psychological characteristics, the using environment, safetyand other aspects, provide a scientific guidance, based on the characteristics of theautomotive styling, to automotive exterior color design.
