As the key project of urban public transportation system, the design of urban rail transitis always under the influence of various factors. For example, urban construction planningdetermines the basic design and direction of the rail transit line, in the meantime, the finaltransport capacity and service are also judged by the specific operating mode, systemselection and traffic organization.At present the opened rail transit lines in our country have exceeded the capacity. Thereason is, on the one hand, the sharp rise public transportation demand in inner cities;on theother hand, the insufficient transport capacity. The main content of this article is to find theway to solve this problem. That is, to choose the proper ways to meet the needs of rail transitoperation this is based on the passengers’requirement in the early, recent, and distant time.This article is standing on the case of the loop line, Guangzhou metro line11, to discussthe operation in the mode of loop line. Based on the introduced operation lines at home andabroad, the author aims to design three operating modes, and to study on three kinds ofschemes with analytic hierarchy process (AHP) comparison and finally to get the optimalsolution. Due to the relationships between operation mode of the rail transit lines, train typeselection, design of marshalling and the passenger flow of lines, this article must give a briefintroduction for prediction methods of the passenger flow.The main factors that restrict the line transport capacity line selection are the fit trainwagons and organized lines. Based on the difference type of Beijing subway line10andShanghai metro line1, the author tries to choose a suitable train type for Guangzhou metroline11. Through the calculation of different train type selection and corresponding linetransport capacity, the author will finally get the fit selection for Guangzhou metro line11,and reach an evaluation for the adaptability of design results and service level of the system.At the end of this paper, the supplementary instruction will be added for the factors that affectthe rail transit line operating mode.
