| Navigation facilities are built to help the ships go through the hydraulic structures suchas dams. However problems often be caused when the navigation facilities are not wellarranged in the layout. To prevent from that, the arrangement of the navigation facilitiesin a hydro project is always one of the key concerns when designing and hydraulicmodeling test is often applied as the most effective method to work it out. Of all the shiplocks, the plane layout of the capacity-expansible lock is the most technically complexdue to the restricted space.This paper researches on the plane layout of the capacity-expansible ship lock in theChangzhou Hydro Project in main line of the Xijiang River. The main content covers thecomparison and selection of the plane layout of the capacity-expansible ship lock. And inaddition, this study also discusses the improvement measure for the flow condition in theentrance area and connecting segment.Combining the fixed bed physical model test and the self-propulsion test, acomparison of the general layout schemes for third-line and fourth-line ship-lock of theChangzhou Hydro Project was conducted. It is found that the entrance area upstream theship lock of the Zhongjiang Scheme just locates at the diffluence of the Neijiang Riverand the Zhongjiang River where cross-flow is existed. And It is high risky for the shipsailing in and out the upstream approach channel of the lock. Meanwhile, thedownstream approach channel lies left-to-center in the river, and it has to cross over thechannel and connect with the main channel on the opposite side of the river, which maycause problems for the ships going in and out when the gate releasing water in the floodseason. Thus it is demonstrated that the ZhongJiang Scheme is not feasible consideringthe flow condition, the navigational condition, and as well as the constructed bridges bothupstream and downstream.On the other hand, In the Waijiang Scheme the lock just locates on the right platformwhere the first-line and second-line locks have been built. It shows that the navigationalcondition is much better than that in the Zhongjiang Scheme. However the disadvantageis that the upstream and downstream approach channel need to share the waterway atboth the entrance area and the connecting segment, thus the route would be complicated.Integrating all the research results, the Waijiang Scheme is recommended as the optimalscheme.Afterwards, a series of optimized experiments based on the Waijiang Scheme wereperformed. The navigational flow condition was studied under different engineering measures, and the effect of the optimization measure was also tested by the ship modeltest. Finally a two-way navigational condition of the ship lock was examined. The resultsshow that the navigation security could be ensured by recommended scheme with theoptimized engineering measures. |
