With China ’s rapid development of higher education, the emerging universities, campuses have sprung up across the country. Facing those planning projectsimplemented or to be implemented, we need a scientific and reasonable tool toevaluate them, with post-evaluation to sum up the lessons and with pre-evaluation toprevent construction risk. This paper selected Tianjin Polytechnic University newcampus which completed in recent years as a case to evaluate by pre-evaluation andPOE, hoping that by this study, we can explore the application of the two methods incampus, while also provide some feedback and reference for the construction ofcampus planning and subsequent improvements. This paper is divided into fore chapters. The first chapter describes the researchbackground, research object, significance and research methods. The second chapterintroduces the background of the case and the evalutation indicators proposed for itscharacteristics, which laid the foundation for the follow-up study. The third chapter ispre-evaluation based on space syntax, which firstly introduced the basic theory andrelevant knowledge, then explored the application policy applies to this subject inaspects of applicability, operating procedures and expected results, determined thetechnical route of Space Syntax evaluation, and finally, we ran the pre-evaluation casestudy. The forth chapter is based on evaluation of the POE, after introducing the basictheory, we designed the procedures in two specific aspects,"quantitative" and"qualitative". Then this paper carried out the case study. The fifth chapter comparedthe two evaluation methods, analysised their application in campus planning andprovided a reference for future study.
