In a long historical period, Western classical aesthetics regard "machine" as theincarnation of ugly. However, in modern times, it was successfully transformed from"ugly" to "beautiful" dramatically. This is undoubtedly related to the technologicalprogress, the industrial revolution and the historical background of the greatdevelopment of the capitalist business culture. It’s no doubt that, the appearance ofmachine aesthetics has a deep inner link with the modern industrial revolution andcapitalist commercial civilization history. The study of machine aesthetics in China, always tend to see it as a kind of artistic ideological trends under the specifichistorical background, and then gradually became a personal heroism history andnarration. And this kind of stylized understanding, descriptive research and thesuperficial analysis, cause the architecture design always in imitative condition in along time. Now the industrialization is still arduous historical task in the process ofmodernization in China, so trying to understand the aesthetical spirit of "machine"still has very important theoretical significance. This paper tries to explore howmachine entered people’s aesthetic vision from the aspects of scientific andtechnological progress, industrial production, the economic model and the process ofindustrial modernization, and gradually established the historical process of relativelystable standard of value.
