Sluices are common hydraulic structures in plain area, according to case study,cracks are prone to apper at the sluice pier. The main causes of sluice cracks aretemperature difference between inside and outside of the pier, dry shrinkage ofconcrete, autogenous volume deformation and external constraints, besides, thesecause can also be affected by a series of other factors. This problem has hauntedengineers for a long time, and has not been well solved.The pier cracks bring great harm to sluice projects and more and more attentionfrom the academia has been paid to the problem. As a result of heat of hydration ofcement during construction period, temperature stress accounts for a large proportionof the total stress in pier concrete and is also one of the important reasons causingcracks in concrete structures; Sluices belong to thin-walled structures in hydraulicstructures, compared with mass concrete such as dams, ratio of surface area to volumeis much larger than mass concrete. Thus the velocity of water emission is relativelyfaster with prominent dry shrinkage. In conclusion, a special study on mechanicalbehavior of pier concrete under the conditions of temperature and humidity is verynecessary.In this paper, common crack problems of concrete structures in sluice projectsare analyzed deeply and the mechanical behavior of pier concrete and causes ofcracks under the condition of temperature and humidity are also analyzed.Considering outside weather conditions, the time-varying characteristics of elasticmodulus and creep degree during the construction process of pier, and cold wave thatmay occur during construction, whole process simulation analysis of pier temperaturefield and thermal stress of the whole process were carried out. Considering the outsidehumidity condition, simulate the distribution of humidity field on the conditions of thepier construction. With the method of Temperature humidity coupling, simulate thepier of dry temperature shrinkage stress, On the condition of coupled temperature andhumidity, analysis of pier structure mechanical behavior was carried out, andaccording to the simulation results of the sluice, some suggestions were put forward toavoid cracks for the design and construction of pier.
