The damming technology of concrete face rockfill dams is a significant technologyachievement in the field of modern damengineering construction. The new type of damhas been choice for many engineerings presently. But it is widely known that the crackcontrol of concrete face-plate is one of the key technical problems for the increasingdeveloping of concrete face rockfill dams. Large quantities engineering experiences frompractice show that the crack of face-plate, especially through crack mainly thanks totemperature stresses and shrinkage stresses. However, the research for temperaturestresses and shrinkage stresses of face-plate haven't been attached much importance to,or deepness of study has still been limited. Based on the construction practice of concrete face-plate in Gongboxia, taking thestandard section (face-plate F9) and typical section (face-plate F36) on the left bank ofmonolith as samples, adopting non-linear FEM, considering the outside temperaturecondition during the face-plate construction and running, also several factors that elasticmodulus and creep strength of face-plate concrete varies with time in construction time,aiming at such situations as all kinds of probable insulating and conserving measures forface-plate and adverse cold wave and air temperature pelting which possibly occurduring construction, simulating the practical construction and running processes offace-plate, the paper makes simulation analysis of face-plate temperature field andstresses field throughout the construction and running courses; taking the environmentalhumidity in construction time into account, targeting at types of possible humiditypreservation and conservation measures of face-plate, simulating the actual constructioncourse of face-plate, the humidity field and shrinkage stresses of face-plate is analyzedon the whole time by the means of simulation. By simulation analysis above-mentioned,variation laws and distribution character of face-plate temperature field, humidity field,temperature stresses, and shrinkage stresses in the Gongboxia face rockfill dam areobtained. On the basis of the knowledge, corresponding temperature control andhumidity control measures are given. The research conclusion provides direct technology supports for temperature controland humidity control anti-cracking face-plate, with not only highly applied values, butalso important reference values for solving similar engineering problems.
