Study On The Traditional Tibetan Residential Construction Mode Of Jiarong In West Sichuan

China is a country with a vast territory and many nationalities. Colorful multi-ethniccultural circles include not only the unique ethnic and cultural traditions, but also differentstyles of architectural forms among which the Tibetan architecture is of unique characteristic.The Jia Rong Tibetans is a traditional form of the Tibetan architecture. The process and mode ofconstruction are of particular research value and significance.The Jia Rong Tibetans are mainly distributed in the western region of Sichuan provincealong the “Tibetan and Yi corridor”. It features the integration of multi-ethnical cultures. Itstraditional houses are one of the important representatives of the Tibetan architectural culturalcircle. With the rapid development of the China’s economic construction, the living modeTibetan resident also changes. However, the traditional culture remains. Tibetan architecturestructure, flat construction building component, decorative elements, and architectural structuresembody the cultural wishes of Jia Rong Tibetan people.This thesis mainly studies the Jia Rong Tibetan architecture. The author personally tookpart in the residential construction process through field research, records the whole processfrom the selection of construction site, preparation of construction materials, to the processingof details such as foundation, walls, and roof and communicated with local artisans, getting anintuitive understanding toward the construction process of Jia Rong Tibetan architecture.Secondly, this thesis applies the theory from architecture, sociology, cultural studies and otherrelated disciplines to systematically analyze the space form, construction mode, technologysystems, building methods, and construction measures and attempts to comprehensivelyunderstand the construction mode of the Tibetan architecture with the passage of time as theconditions and the change of status of the construction mode as the evaluation criteria. Finally, aparadigm of Traditional Tibetan residential construction mode is deduced on the basis of the available data and the natural conditions of Jiarong Tibetan cultural background. Then theauthor tries to analyze internal and external factors that generated from this constructionparadigm, and digs out the guidance significance of Tibetan traditional residential constructionmode for modern local architecture construction.This thesis is based on field research. It applies scientific methods to systematicallyanalyze and summarize the construction mode of Jia Rong Tibetans architecture based on aseries of related studies.
