As more well-known foreign brands entering the Chinese automobile marketwhile the domestic car brands have their own rise, Chinese auto industry in recentyears has been rapid developing. At the same time, the car companies are also facingincreasing consumer demands, further market segmentation, competition furtherintensified and other issues. To deal with this development and change, themanufacturers are increasing vehicle configuration, accelerating the introduction ofnew models to the market segments and other measures as well. Thus, thedevelopment of new models becomes one of the priorities. Automotive appearancemainly depends on different shapes of stamping parts, and the parts’ shapes dependson the dies as a guarantee. Stamping dies as an important automobile productiontechnology and equipment, its manufacturing cycle, quality and cost becomes a keyfactor in automotive manufacture process.Facing fierce competition in the market, the introduction of concurrentengineering to the process of dies development and tryout, not only does good totheoretical and methodological summary and research of the preliminary die designand development, but also improves the quality of new models dies, shorten moldtesting cycle and parts trial production cycle. In this paper, use quality tools of theconcurrent engineering, such as QFD, FMEA and so on, through the deduction ofhouse of quality based on the product life cycle, analyse the process of the die designand development stage, commissioning testing stage and to be put into massproduction stage. So as to control the quality of new models die testing. Meanwhilethis solution has been used and proved in the VW/SK253new model project. Qualitymanagement of new model dies project based on concurrent engineering is thedeveloping direction of new models dies project, and the assurance of quality control,short development cycles and low production costs in the fierce market competition,in the automotive manufacturing industry.
