It is well known that ice or snow on the road surface has great influences, such as leadingto accident, on transportation in the winter. This would seriously affect national economydevelopment and living safety. Now, the most common method where deicing salt is usedcould destroy the surface and establishment of the roadway and pollute the environment.Therefore, it is important to adopt the new method for deicing or melting snow.This paper mainly is the comparative analysis of current deicing or melting snow method,proposing the concept of design about the deicing and snow-melting system by magneticenergy. Based on a series of experiment studies and finite element analyses, determining thematerials and forms for deicing and snow-melting system by electro-magnetic energy, thetemperature distribution in layer of structure and ascending rule of temperature are measuredand analyzed. The feasibility of this method for deicing and snow-melting is discussed inNorth of China. Furthermore, the system control procedure is designed and the economic andsocial benefits are discussed. The main research works are described as follows:(1) The theory of heat conduction and the conducted form of thermal energy in cementconcrete are analyzed.(2) Through comparative analysis of current deicing or melting snow method in thedomestic and abroad, proposing the concept of design about the deicing and snow-meltingsystem by electro-magnetic energy, and through wide selection of materials, determining typeof machines used for deicing and snow-melting system by electro-magnetic energy; Based onthe shape and performance analysis of materials at different temperatures, determining thehighest temperature limit of deicing and snow-melting system by electro-magnetic energyworks.(3) Based on the theory of heating transfer, a heating transfer mathematical model aboutdeicing and snow-melting system by electro-magnetic energy is built. By infinite elementanalysis software—ANSYS, analyzing the law of heat-conduction about deicing andsnow-melting system by electro-magnetic energy, it determines the setting maximum space ofsnow-melting system by electro-magnetic energy.(4) A small road melting snow experimental system is built, based on the temperature changes of different parts, analyzing the law of heat-conduction. Based on this conclusion,temperature distribution of structure layer and road surface, the asc ending rule of temperatureis researched by theory.
