Dynamic Streetscape Design With Vitality

Road system is always considered and built in the first of a consideration ofdeveloping a brand new city. There is no doubt that people feel the whole city spacethrough road and street system during city’s construction. As part of most importantelements that form our urban space, road system carries peoples’ daily needs in ourlives and work, and at the same time, we could read different demands from spirits andmaterial needs. In the process of forming a new urban integrated framework, the streetis the skeleton that carries the urban transportation, namely city "pass" and "of", andalso the variety of the city life. It connects all functioned neighborhoods such ascommercials, residential, entertainments in the city. However, our modern city pursuitshigher and higher flow and efficiency, people’s blindly emphasizing vehicle circulationand pay less attention to pedestrian circulation in the city planning leads to road systemis a cold tool in part of people’s life, most of the new cities are following the samepattern, without energy and characteristics.With the voice of a human-oriented city design and street design is louder andlouder, people realized that they need to fight for their own living space, they need thestreet to function as a link to emotional needs, giving more abundant life. Therefore,how to transform the streets as the contradiction between the vehicle and pedestrianchannel activity, become the key of street space design from the perspective of citydesign, street design characteristic has become one of the standards to measure adesign’s quality and feature.In this paper, through the analysis and study on the similar cases and some foreigngreat streets, I summarized the method and the mode of street landscape design,combined with the actual research results, as well as on the street landscape, ecologicaltechnology and other related data collection, inspection, analysis and summary, whichguide the future urban street landscape design and space nodes. According to thisanalysis, how to make dynamic blocks is the key to succeed the street landscape design.In the basis of design, this paper tries to summarize the street design elements ofdifferent types and conclude the differences characteristics of different types of street inthe design. So that we will forming the street landscape design guidelines as BeijingFuture Science City.
