Analysis On Design Of Campus Waterfront Landscape

Due to strong education demands of Chinese economy and society and national policy guidance, the trend of large scale expansion of campus construction emerges. Campus construction becomes the important development impetus of the China’s urbanization process. Amongst all landscape environments of the campus, waterfront landscape environment is the one with the strongest plasticity in campus environment, and attract more and more attentions from people, showing its uniqueness and prominent position in campus landscape areas; it is one of the carries of campus landscape environment, carrying the living, studying and communication and the distinctive campus cultures. The paper proposes some opinions for the problems that are likely to occur in campus waterfront landscape design. The paper conduct researches mainly through consulting relevant information from the literature data, and the data directly acquired from field investigation as per the examples, and analyzes and discusses during the design process. Campus waterfront landscape, as one constituent part of campus landscape, must be designed and planned as per internal requirements of campus landscape. Different spatial forms are rationally set under the precondition of the overall planning, so as to integrate all regional spaces. In the design, waterscape and original landform are employed to build a suitable waterfront environment; the characteristics of various colleges and universities are utilized to measure the aesthetic values of the waterscape; ecological design rules are observed and the harmony and unity with the natural landscape are valued; and the unique cultures of each higher school are combined to build the waterfront landscape with cultural heritage.
