Flow is an important factor which needs frequently measuring and controlling in the process of industrial produce. There are two types of flow meters, according to either the mass or the volume is measured. The Coriolis Mass Flowmeter (CMF) is an advanced mass flow meter based on the effect of Coriolis act. Since Micro Motion Company developed the first CMF in the late1970’s, it has quickly developed for its high precision in measuring mass flow. CMF is composed of first device and secondary device. First device includes vibrating tube, exciter and sensor. Secondary device is to deal with signals from the sensors, which is used to detect the vibration of the tube. The mass flowrate is proportional to the phase difference of the signals.The purpose of our research is to develop a CMF based on frequency and phase difference measuring. This paper presents a deep research on the hardware and software design of secondary device. The hardware and software of the system design, together with key techniques in realization, has been introduced in details. As a result, the realization of frequency and phase difference measuring has proved the system is of practical significance and effective. It is implemented using a high speed embedded microprocessor as the central processing unit and is making satisfying results. Also, serial communication based on MODBUS protocol is achieved to realize real-time monitoring and managing the flow parameters.Experiment result shows that the system of CMF based on frequency and phase difference measuring we developed features high measuring accuracy, ease operation and good reliability. The research has a great application value.
