Research On Structure Optimization And Function Promotion Of Small Town In Suzhou

Suzhou is the sources of the "southern Jiangsu model", is a typical representative ofthe development of small towns in China. As a national development strategy under thebackground of the new urbanization, what role does the small town assuming? What’s theposition in the urban system? And what’s the way of enhancing its comprehensive function?This thesis will put focus on the small towns in Suzhou, in order to analysis the system ofsmall towns, and answer the above questions which has important theoretical and practicalsignificance of the issues.The main line of the full study is structure and function of small towns, and thedevelopment of Suzhou will divided into four stages by namely: the basis of the former1980’s development, the prosperous development of township industry developed in theearly eighty’s, ninety’s export-oriented economy in transition period and integratedpromotion period of the21st century. Sums up the characteristics and laws of developmentof small towns, and come to a conclusion that the structure and function of small towns isput forward linkage, and gathering、production and service functions are core features ofsmall towns. And also this thesis will mainly from the perspective of scale, economy,society and space, by using50social and economic statistical data of Suzhou, to analysisthe current characteristics of the whole structure and function of the small towns. Selectedthe38indicators, by using the cluster analysis method, to divided Suzhou intocomprehensive development-oriented strong town, industrial and trade town, generalindustrial town, general integrated town and eco-tourism town. This thesis will putforward by analyzing the optimization of the structure and the promotion of function ofSuzhou in four aspects: optimize the scale structure, to promote agglomeration function;optimize the economic structure, to promote production function; optimize the socialstructure, to improve the service function; innovate management system, perfecting policyguarantee. And then concluded the path of promotion of functions for these (five kindsof)small towns.
