It is vital to locate the single phase fault and notify the administrators and maintainstaff rapidly, reliably and accurately. Therefore designing a software for central station tomake maintain stuff carry out repair work has great real significance. This paper makes a brief introduction of the significance of single phase groundedfault locating of distribution network, the current situation in the respect, the harmfuleffect of single phase grounded fault, and the significance to develop central stationsoftware.Single phase grounded fault locating system architecture is expounded, and thecomposition and function of every part of the fault detector are illustrated. The functionof the wireless module and GPRS in the architecture are summarized. And the functionsof central station are briefly introduced.Requirement analysis of Single phase grounded fault locating system software iscarried out both in functional part and non-functional part. The principles obeyed, and the steps taken in designing database for the centralstation software are shown. The normalization process to get rid of redundancy, tosimplify database updating process, and to reduce the space requirement is demonstrate.Central station software is developed by applying VC++based on the situation offault locating. MFC is used in developing the interface of the software. SQL Server isused as DBMS, and by database manipulation the function of subscriber logging, poletower and their fault information management are realized. EM310module is used toreceive and send short messages. The functions of adding, updating, and deleting of faultinformation are implemented by encoding and decoding of the content of short message. The display of fault information is illustrated and the result is clarified. Bycomputing the pole and tower topology, the distribution graph of pole and tower areplotted. Fault information can be displayed in the distribution graph of pole and tower.
