In the power supply network, distribution network and electricity users directly connected, the stability and reliability of power grid operation has an important influence on the quality, is to ensure that the foundation of social power. In the process of distribution network operation, failure is inevitable, early general by manual inspection of the fault location in distribution network, not only a waste of a large amount of manpower and material resources and fault location for a long time. With the development of economy and society, residents and enterprises put forward higher requirements on the quality of power supply, fault location of distribution network automation, intelligent and efficient demand urgently.Jinzhong Power Grid is in Shanxi electric power company, a subsidiary of the backbone grid, for local economic and social development has an important supporting role. In recent years, governments at all levels to increase the investment on power infrastructure construction and renovation, but there are still low overall power grid intelligent level, distribution network fault detection is mainly by manual inspection and manual investigation, not only fault detection efficiency is low, and the need to a large number of line maintenance personnel to conduct inspections of continuous distribution network, caused a waste of personnel. In this paper, the status quo in Jinzhong Power Grid distribution network fault on-line monitoring, reading a lot of literature at home and abroad, to master the research status of domestic and international distribution network fault on-line monitoring technique, the distribution network fault on-line monitoring technique principle, key technology, main fault location algorithm are more in-depth research. In considering a variety of distribution network fault location algorithms, the shortcomings of the foundation, according to the actual needs of Jinzhong Power distribution network fault location, select the signal injection method for Jinzhong grid distribution network fault on-line monitoring system for fault location algorithm. The principle of fault detection method based on signal injection to the were in-depth study, in Jinzhong Power Grid distribution network as the research object, the signal injection method principle, signal injection mode and fault section positioning calculation of theoretical research and numerical simulation. On the basis of this proposed Jinzhong grid distribution network fault on-line monitoring system design, introduces the realization process of fault on-line monitoring system hardware design, software functions and composition, the main modules of the system. In terms of hardware, mainly introduces the fault indicator, sub station GSM communication, injection signal generating device, such as hardware module design and implementation; in terms of software, focusing on the Jinzhong grid distribution network model construction, based on MapObjects component GIS development, the signal injection method for power distribution network fault location algorithm improvement and implementation. This paper briefly introduces the process and results of system testing, the implementation of the main function of the system is verified.
