Based on the actual status of operated super-critical generation units with air-cooledcondensers, there is a great potential of energy saving for this type of unit. In generalmuch of the attention is paid on the project schedule while little attention is paid to theimprovement of the critical problems in commissioning phase. The improvement of thesecritical problems can not only ensure the safety and stable operation of the unit, but alsoimprove the performancel of the unit and produce great economic benefits. Firstly, themain principles involved in the improvement of the these critical problems areintroduced, and the functional relation of various parameters of the air cooling system ishighlighted; Secondly, some improvement measures on system design, auxiliary systemcommi-ssioning, and unit startup are presented for these critical problems, which hasachieved certain good results; Thirdly, the back pressure optimization of generation unitswith air-cooled condensers is studied, and optimized back pressure curve under variousambient temperatures and operation loads is provided for reference based on site test andtheoretical analysis; Finally the economic benefits achieved with the improvement ofthese critical problems are analyzed.All the described improvement of the critical problems in the paper has been im-plemented in the actual projects, and the adaptability and the economic values of theseimprovement measures has been proved, which can provide certain reference for similargeneration units.
