Along with the construction of national economy improves continuously, the grid isbecoming the direction of large capacity, long distance and high voltage. In recent years,because the network load of area is increasing and the scale is expanding continually, therequirement of reliability of supplying power is growing with each passing day. It alsoproduces a series of problems in the application for monitoring transmission line. Inorder to solve these problems, this paper presents a technology of monitoringtransmission line, which is based on the wireless sensor networks.Wireless sensor networks is a kind of distributed and self-organizing network. And itfaces the practical application. It consists of a large number of small nodes. Through thedata of collection and analysis, it can realize the sensing of data in the complexenvironment. But because the energy of supplying battery, the storage, the computationand the communication ability of the nodes are limited, it is necessary to study aneffective method to prolong the lifetime of the network. The sensor nodes are distributedon the tower of the monitoring line. The topology of the network is usually a long-chainstructure.An excellent scheme of topology control can save energy, prolong the lifetime of thenetwork and reduce the interference between nodes. It can ensure the connectivity of thenetwork and the reliability of data transmission. In this paper, based on the research ofwireless sensor networks, a suitable scheme, which is of hierarchical topology structure,is proposed for monitoring transmission line and it is distributed and a long-chainstructure. Firstly, this hierarchical scheme will cluster with the deployed nodes, and fusewith data in the selected cluster head, in order to construct the topology structure of thenetwork. Then, in the simulation software of MATLAB, we will design a topologycontrol structure. Finally, an optimization algorithm of ant colony is used to remove someredundant links. We analyze and compare the convergence speed, the power consumptionand the life cycle of the wireless sensor networks, which is applied in the geneticoptimization algorithm. So that the data can transmit to the monitoring center reliably.The experimental result shows that the method proposed here completes real-timemonitoring of lines and prolongs the lifetime of the network. It will provide a betterquality of service of the network for the monitoring system of transmission line.
