The current status of the Pingshan city10kV grid: Most of the city distributivelines were overhead lines. The distributive lines were mostly radial. Part of10kV gridhad become ‘hand in hand’ ring. But the intelligent level of the breakers was low. Thenetwork structure was complex and unclear. Since the load grew so fast, the linecould not meet the growth of the load. The load had a poor transfer capability. Therewere kinds of faults in the long-distance power lines from the substation qualify tothe users. Locating and isolating the faults were very complex and cost much time.They needed a lot of manpower and cost high maintenance.The paper introduced the technological features of the intelligent device inPingshan distribution network. The key techniques were: The switch equipment usedpermanent magnetic actuator, so the mechanical parts of the switch equipmentcoulded be reduced and there would be fewer mechanical failure of the switchequipment. Then, the device could work stably; The electronic switchs were used forthe first time, and current monitoring and short-circuited protection were added in thecontrol circuit of the switch. So the switch could be controled reliably and thedamage of the permanent coils and the contrlo circuit of the secondary in theintelligent device would be avoided; The communication technology of EPON wasused in distributive system. Then the distributive system had more nodes and couldbe upgraded.The paper introduced the status of PingShan10kV distribution netrork andproposed application plan of intelligent circuit breaker in the distribution network.KE-7100intelligent circuit Breaker could collect and control kinds of signals ofcurrent, voltage and status in the breaker. Then the intelligent device exchanged thedata with monitoring master via the communication channel. So that the faults couldbe located and isolated, and the areas of no faults could recover power supply. Thepractice show that the intelligent circuit breaker in PingShan10kV distributionnetrork could improve the reliability fo power supply significantly and achievedmuch economic and social benefits.
