Research On The Configuration Schemes For Relay Protection In110kV Digital Substation Of BenXi

Along with application of IEC61850standard and rapid development of digitalsubstation technology, the problem of relay protection configuration of digitalsubstation becomes increasingly outstanding. Hardware construction, configurationschemes and implementation way of digital protection have changed obviously.Data platform of the station uniform and application of GOOSE communicationtechnology provide probability for real time sharing of digital data. The function ofprotection is expanded. Many functions such as measurement, Wave recorder,Switch state monitoring that relied on traditional equipment formerly can beimplemented inner protection nowadays.This paper has analyzed the impact of digital substation for relay protectionand compared the commonly current used two kinds of digital substationconfiguration scheme (conventional protection configuration scheme and systemprotection configuration scheme).We also analyzed the advantages anddisadvantages of the two schemes, and described the composition of the schemes.System protection configuration scheme is regarded to have simple wiring,comprehensive analysis, and it will be the future development direction of digitalrelay protection. Conventional protection configuration scheme for digitalsubstation relay protection is a good transition plan, it is easier to implement. Thedisadvantages of system protection configuration scheme are the lack of operatingexperience. This paper based on the background of Benxi digital substation110kV relay protection, introduced the design of conventional protection configurationscheme of digital substation and the implementation process.
