Research On Landscape Design Strategy For Coal Mine In Shanxi Province

Mining wasteland is an outcome of overexploitation and severe destruction of mine field by human after seizing resources from the nature to develop economy, leaving serious deterioration of the eco-environment. As a major province possessing rich coal resources in China, Shanxi Province’s coal mining industry expanding fast to meet the need of growing economy, which lead to many mining wasteland that severely impeded cities’ future and equilibrium of ecosystem. As nowadays the government pays more and more attention to the transformation of economic development mode and the usage of new energy sources, mining wasteland’s functionality reuse and ecological environment improvement are urgent need and requirements of the society. For the past, afforestation construction is the most widely used way to deal with mining wasteland, however, it lead to monotonous landscape and has no benefit to promote local economic development or residents’ living standard. So the right way to reuse mining wasteland is to make effective, suitable and long-term plans which balance the economic interests, ecological interests and social interests according to the actual circumstances.In this article, the author systematically analyzes different types of mining wastelands and the way of reconstruction by a comprehensive research method which combines literature research, investigation and analysis research, comparative research methods and theories of ecological restoration theory, landscape ecology, landscape design, engineering and aesthetics science. Based on the fundamental theory of mining wasteland reconstruction concluded after the explanation of mining wasteland’s concept, features, current landscape elements and relative cases in China and abroad, the author further discusses achievements and shortcomings in mining wasteland reconstruction job of Shanxi Province according to the current situation’s research. Moreover, enlightened by successful cases in foreign countries, the author proposes a strategy to Shanxi’s mining wasteland reconstruction job from fours aspects which are establish new values, scientific application of landscape design, professional engineering back-up and post-management system with technical support. Then the articles stressed the methods to deal with mining wasteland from the aspects of landscape design to transform mining wastelands to modern, elegant landscape views which integrates ecological thoughts and technology.
