In recent years, the global issues of resources, environment and economyincreasingly prominent, with the rapid development of renewable and distributedenergy, the world faces a series of problems of how to access and make full use ofrenewable energy. The smart grid, becomes the development direction of powerindustry in the future. Actively developing smart grid, to meet the requirements ofthe sustainable development in the future, has become the realistic choice of theinternational power development. There are a lot of conventional substationsconstruction and operation period expires, need to be transformed. Therefore, howto take effectively use of the existing equipments in conventional substation smarttransformation, minimizing the investment and project amount, and give full play tothe advantages of intelligent substation, is a practical problem related to the rapidpromotion of smart substation.This paper which takes the intelligent transformation of the former substation asexample aims to study conventional66kV substation intelligent transformationprogram. The paper mainly studied the following aspects:(1) introduces the structure, characteristics and advantages of intelligentsubstation;(2) the data acquisition system, station control layer, network reconstructionand transition security four aspects in conventional substation has carried on thedemand analysis;(3) taking66kV substation as example, design the intelligent transformationprogram, and analyze the operation effect of intelligent substation.This study based on the current intelligent substation system and the technicalcharacteristics, make a full analysis of the requirements for the intelligenttransformation of the conventional substation. On the basis of the analysis results,the transformation program of smart substation are put forward. Measurement andcontrol protection integration device was developed and adopted in the program. Ituses the object-oriented design, flexible configuration, can meet the applicationrequirement of smart substation. The measurement and control protectionintegration device realizes monitoring function of on-line switch, instead of switchmonitoring device independent. The main transformer auto switch function wasintegrated in the main transformer protection device, replaced the independent auto switching device. Innovations like above and main transformer protection deviceinstalled on the spot and so on promote the development of intelligent substation,but also reduce the substation devices and the secondary cable wiring, therebyreduce the construction cost and workload of substation operation and maintenance.The research results of this paper accord with the general concept of "energyconservation and environmental protection, function integration, technology class"in smart substation construction, provides the beneficial reference for the intelligenttransformation of the conventional substation.
