The Application Of Minimalist Modern Garden Design

Minimalism landscape architecture, the minimalism art is used in garden design, in the pursuit of extreme simplicity, objectivity and abstraction in the form, controls large space with little design elements, but has a strong influence and impact.This paper studied the formation of Minimalism gardens, as well as design elements, namely the use of natural elements, traditional elements and new materials; and summarized the design language of Minimalism garden from the works, including parallel lines, concentric circles and net grid. It summarized Minimalism garden’s design features and inspiration of various works by analyzing typical works of Peter Walker in different periods.Through the analysis of Qijiang Park and Suzhou Museum, the author discussed the impact of Minimalism garden on China’s landscape garden design. Although our contemporary landscape works show a Minimalism tendency, mostly in a state of simple imitation, sophisticated cases are rare. The reasons for this problem are multifaceted, not only because of China’s national conditions, but are also closely related with the professionalism of a designer and public aesthetic. With the further development of Chinese garden, these problems will be improved; Minimalism garden will have a bright future in China.
