The topics of slope stability, involved in various fields of civil engineering, are always mainly studied. With the vigorous development of traffic engineering, the high embankments usually appear in highway construction, especially in the vast western region, and some embankment even as high as thirty or forty meters. Storms, earthquakes and other natural disasters occur frequently, which exacerbates the risk of slope failure. Given this situation, slope stability analysis becomes necessary. The embankment quality test after the earthquake is a tedious work, while the emergence of GPR will achieve this goal efficiently and accurately. The new detection technology is of great significance for saving manpower, material and financial resources.On the basis of summarizing various Limit Equilibrium Methods established by predecessors, the high embankment slope model was established using simplified Bishop Method. Improved Monte Carlo Methods, convenient and easily to be programmed, was adopted in searching for the most dangerous sliding surface. The embankment is composed of several different soil layers, and the materials’property of each layer meets the regularly requirement. In the thesis, a calculating program is developed to search for the most dangerous sliding surface and get the safety factor. The software tool can analyze various conditions of different slope height, different angle and different combinations of soil layers when infiltration and earthquake, which can provide reasonable suggestions for the highway construction. The software tool, developed with C#, having advantages of simple operation, friendly interface and reliable performance, could output the results visually. Considering the typical subgrade defects after earthquake, the GPR technology used in testing the road quality was proved convenient and accurate.In this thesis, a section in DE-XIANG road on Qing-Tibet Plateau is studied. The calculating results, having good consistence with the actual condition, demonstrate the software tool is practical and reliable.
